Soft cover. Condition: New. 1st Edition. Original printed wraps. 32 pp. 8.75 x 4.00. `There is an amusing story of poet Tim Inkster who went searching for the poetic significance of the raven in northern Ontario. . Stumbling into a local pub after trying to photograph the bird, he found a quiet dark little corner to sip his beer and reflect on the day's work. Sensing something looking over his shoulder, Inkster wheeled around to see a huge stuffed black raven with glass eyes staring him down. It was about as large as an eagle and equally forboding. This story is a suitable preface to the work in this chapbook, The Crown Prince Waits For A Train, because the image of the raven is predominant (along with the train) in dealing with the themes of lost time and the realization of horror.'.

Book First Edition
Soft cover. Condition: New. 1st Edition. Original printed wraps. 120 pp. The basic ingredient, as in Reaney's trilogy about the Donnellys, is local history. In Baldoon, near Wallaceburg, Ontario, a nineteenth-century farm family suffered a long series of supernatural visitations, ranging from the usual poltergeist tricks to fires and visions. Various efforts at exorcism failed. Finally, driven nearly to despair, the farmer obtained the services of a doctor and his psychic daughter from Long Point on Lake Erie and, following instructions, shot the wing of the stray goose in his flock with a silver bullet, thus causing the witch who was the source of the trouble to break her arm and be both identified and rendered powerless. It's a good yarn, and Reaney, a vigorous opponent of soulless modernity, likes to believe it is true. Printed offset by Tim Inkster on the Heidelberg KORD at the printing office of the Porcupine's Quill in the Village of Erin, Wellington County, Ontario, Canada. Smyth sewn into 16-page signatures.

Soft cover. Condition: Fine. 1st Edition. Original printed wraps. 92 pp. Octavo. `It is with an invocation of nature's dazzling energy that A Steady Hand opens. Through frequent use of metaphor, Mike Doyle awakens in the reader a refreshing, if not naive, image of life which exists beyong the limits of man's rigidly ordered world. By structuring his own perception of nature's forces, the poet communicates eminently personal visions, while, at the same time, rendering thyem in a concise and accessible language. It is precisely this oft-stated beauty of Doyle's poetry, his economy of words, which held my attention throughout A Steady Hand.' -- Kenneth Meadwell. Printed offset by Tim Inkster on the Heidelberg KORD at the printing office of the Porcupine's Quill in the Village of Erin, Wellington County, Ontario, Canada. Smyth sewn into 16-page signatures.

Soft cover. Condition: As New. 1st Edition. A first slim volume of poems by Ed Carson, who subsequently distinguished himself in a variety of senior executive positions in the Canadian publishing industry. `It is the restrained, understated quality of the verse coupled with the smooth rhythms that first impress the reader. The skill displayed is that of the careful craftsman fashioning deliberate yet soft poems. E. J. Carson is an important poet and one whose future work will be eagerly awaited.' -- Michael Ridley Printed offset by Tim Inkster on the Heidelberg KORD at the printing office of the Porcupine's Quill in the Village of Erin, Wellington County, Ontario, Canada.
