Soft cover. Condition: Near Fine. No Jacket. This book is in near fine condition. The edges show wear but there are no stains or tears. This book tells the story of Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks. Sequoia National Park was established in 1890 and Kings Canyon National Park fifty years later in 1940. Scenic conservation finally come into its own in 1916 in the US when the National Park Service was established. The great trees did not become timber and one of the first wilderness regions in the world was saved for us all. The book includes a brief early history of the regions and a map and black and white photos. There is an index. Proceeds from the sale of this book benefit environmental restoration and education.

Paperback. Condition: Very Good. Third Edition. Plants in three groups low, middle and high elevations. Normally only those on the low elevation are seen by campers, whereas to see the high and middle elevation it would be necessary to hike for a day or longer. Many of the plants have emigrated to the Sierra Nevada during different periods of geologic time when conditions were ideal - over a period of time plants have adapted or died out.
