Hardcover. Condition: Good For Age. No Jacket. Pohl, H. D. (illustrator). First Edition. Age has played a significant role in its condition. There are some large chips missing from paper over cloth board cover, at largest 3.5" inches long by 1" wide. There are five large chips like this of varying sizes, and many smaller ones at top, bottom, and sides. Corners are bumped, showing board. Spine has much wear at head and foot, however still solidly attached. The FEP and BEP are both showing some board and thread in the hinge. There are also some markings in the FEP, as well as a previous owner's name in ink. Color illustrated pages for each letter on right hand side, blank pages on the left. Illustrations are still bright and look nice, two pages have rips. T is missing one quarter of the page. Some blank pages have children's drawing in pencil. A few pages have marks where a thumb would have rested while being held. This has been a well loved edition, but even with it's faults it is still lovely to behold for it's age (currently 110 years). Size: 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall. 1st Edition.
