Charlotte, a struggling but out of work actress, thought her 'chance of a lifetime' had come when she managed to discover the holiday hideout where a well-known playwright would be working on his next play, and she duly set off to track him down in the hope of getting a part. But, having succeeded in locating him, she discovered to her chagrin that she had been pursuing the wrong man ? not Jason Lethbridge, the playwright, but his cousin Jonathan, whose only connection with the successful plays was doing the research work for them. Nevertheless, it was Charlotte's chance to get into the theatre, and she took it with both hands ? but was it still the wrong man she had in her mind ? ## #### INTERNATIONAL BUYERS: Please Note. Cloth. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. First Edition. Hardback. First Edition. Very slight shelf wear to top edge of D/J. This book sets out to explain as simply as possible what scientists believe about the nature, extent and origin of our universe. Almost all our information about the space around the Earth is acquired in the form of radiations and minute particles. Only rarely is it possible to devise an experiement which will produce a yes or no answer to a problem. Astro-physicists have to accept the information in the form in which it arrives and attempt to interpret it. The first part of this book sketches the early history of astronomical observations. The second part seeks to explain the principles which are used in interpreting the data. There follow mainly descriptive chapters outlining the present state of our knowledge of the universe and some theories of its origin and future. Because, in this science particularly, far-reaching conclusions have been drawn on the basis of slender evidence, some consideration has been given to the validity of the methods and the implications of the conclusions. The book is intended primarily for readers with a limited scientific knowledge. 176 pp. (We carry a wide selection of titles in The Arts, Theology, History, Politics, Social and Physical Sciences. academic and scholarly books and Modern First Editions ,and all types of Academic Literature.).

In writing this book on Rheumatism, I have endeavoured constantly to bear in mind the everyday needs of the patient and the potentially rheumatic subject with which my professional experience has made me familiar. I have there concentrated on providing the reader with the information which should prove useful when acted upon in daily life. I trust that this book will also be of value to the reader who wishes to avoid the pains and disabilities of this widespread disease-condition. If the ideas presented here were faithfully put into practice, the toll of Rheumatism would be drastically reduced. Contents: Some Observations. Causes of Rheumatism. Forms of Rheumatism. Couple of tears to top edge of D/J. Marks to D/J. The study of evolution is the study of the relationship between plants and animals living today and those of ages past; and amongst the animals, of course, we include man. it asks such questions as: What has been the pattern of life through time? How has the natural world as we know it today arisen? What can we learn about the future from the past? Above all, with excusable self-interest, we can ask: What are its implications for ourselves? In this book the reader starts on the path towards the answers to these questions. The evidence for evolution, the mechanism of inheritance of both the simliarities and differences of organisms, the concept of natural selection, the evolution of man, human heredity, plant and animal breeding, the relationships of the lives of organisms today, and the place of purpose in evolution are amongst the topics considered. Illustrated. 232 pp. (We carry a wide selection of titles in The Arts, Theology, History, Politics, Social and Physical Sciences. academic and scholarly books and Modern First Editions etc.).
