Book
A large collection of works by Jean Paul Sartre including Thà atre, Les Mots, La Nausà e, Une mort tràs douce, Situations, L'âge de raison, L'être et le nà ant, all published by Gallimard. There are 1960's Livre de Poche editions of Le Diable et le Bon Dieu, La Mort dans L'à me, Le Mur, Les Mains Sales, Le Sursis and Les Sà questràs D'Altona. L'Existentialisme est un humanisme features in a 1967 edition published by Nagel. There are 3 Penguin English translations along with a French text/English introduction edition of Huis Clos published by Methuen. These titles are all paperbacks in very good condition apart from L'être (1963) and L'âge (1950) which are complete but fair only. Two hardback volumes follow - Sartre Romantic Rationalist by Iris Murdoch comes from the series Studies in Modern Literature and Thought published by Bowes & Bowes 1961, while Sartre's Existential Biographies by Michael Scriven, Macmillan 1984 is a crisp first edition in a very good but sunned dust jacket. The collection continues with biographies of Sartre by Maurice Cranston, R-M Alberes and Philip Thody. Mary Warnock discusses Existentialism and The Philosophy of Sartre as does Anthony Manser. An American perspective is added by Existentialism from Dostoevsky to Sartres, edited by Walter Kaufman, Meridian Books, and Sartre: A Collection of Critical Essays, edited by Edith Kern, Prentice-Hall, 1962. The ownership inscription of V Blackburn appears in several of these titles along with her pencil annotations. A comprehensive resource for students of this French novelist, playwright, biographer and leading figure in 20th century philosophy. Extra shipping charges will apply.
