As new condition black boards with red spine lettering contained in an as new condition price-clipped color photographic dust jacket. Includes Preface; Foreword; Introduction and Conclusion. "Aspiring leaders - in any business or organization - have a lot to learn from Bobby Bowden. He has established a standard for success that few will ever surpass. This book tells you how he does it." - Coach Joe Paterno, Penn State. "Bowden makes it sound so simple. But that might be the secret to Florida State's long-standing success in the volatile world of college football. Everything IS simple, because Bobby Bowden makes it that way. Nothing much changes, and when something needs to, Bowden changes it, often beghind a closed door." - The Dallas Morning News. "Coach Bowden illustrates how good character, integrity, and having a game plan are essential to motivating others and achieving golas. His book not ony provides a glimpse into one of our state's icons, but also lays out clearly and simply how his vision can be applied to any field or endeavor." - Governor Jeb Bush. "For half a century, Coach Bobby Bowden has achieved legendary status in a merciless profession where only the strong survive. You think managing a business is tough? Try overseeing a roster of 85 young men and a multi-million-dollar budget while under the relentless spotlight of the media and tens of thousands of victory-hungry alumni. Your job security is only as bankable as your annual win-loss record. Yet what a bankroll of success Bobby Bowden has achieved! Coach Bowden is widely known for his phenomenal accomplishments on the football field. But it's the 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. stuff - what he accomplishes behind the scenes Monday through Friday - that prepares him for success on Saturday. He manages his organization with an effectiveness that few have ever surpassed. In The Bowden Way, Coach Bowden puts forth the fundamental leadership principles and practices that have guided his storied career. Bowden's keys to success are unapologetically the old-fashioned virtues: integrity, humility, loyalty, faith. But it's how he applies these virtues in the workaday world that accounts for his amazing accomplishments. Time management. Motivation. Discipline. Hiring. Firing. Evaluating performance. Running staff meetings. Relating to superiors. Handling success. Dealing with adversity. Changing with the times. These are the nuts-and-bolts issues on which good leaders forge their reputations and build their success. Filled with lessons from his years in coaching, including behind-the-scenes stories about memorable games, media events, and players such as Deion Sanders, Randy Moss, Charlie Ward, ahd Chris Weinke, The Bowden Way puts readers inside the mind of a legend in modern sports." - from the inner front jacket flap.
