Hard cover dust wrapper 175pp b&w plates. Browning on eps, foxing on page edges and a little scattered throughout, corners bumped. Else very good. Warm inscription to former owner from author: 'a Canadian, whose grandfather flew with 66 Squadron of the RFC in World War I. I wish every happiness. I observed for Canadians and finally served under a distinguished Canadian, Squadron Commander Robert Lechie DFC AFC the only man who shot down not one byt two Zepplins. Goderic Hodges, Bedford 5th March 1974. Author tells of his experiences with observation balloons on the Western Front during the great war. As well as describing what he did with him during his time with 32 Squadron RFC, he conveys something of his grand obsession with them. A 'balloonatic', indeed.
