There is a 1/8 inch closed surface tear to back of dust jacket which has a $35.95 unclipped price on flap. A First Comics Graphic Novel. PLEASE NOTE - This Special Hardback edition is Numer 76 in a Limited Edition of 2000 signed by the Author/Artist on a special color plate. Welcome to the 21st Century. Welcome to a world where political and social corruption are the norm, where organized sports are illegal and armed terrorism is prime time entertainment. Welcome to the world of Reuben Flagg and his one-man crusade for justice in a world where everybody and everything has a price. Reuben Flagg was born in the year 2000, at Hammarskjold Center, Mars, the home of every surviving corporate chief and the capital of Humanity. Flagg is a college dropout, a former pop-singer, stand-up comic, and the erstwile vid star of Mark Thrust, Sexus Ranger. When the computer-generated images designed to simulate acting made Flagg supefluous, he chose to join the Plexus Rangers and emigrate to Earth. Because of his Martian diet and metabolism, Flagg is able to see the sublimal messages implanted by the ASLC in Plex vid programming, although they are virtually invisible to everyone else. Howard Chaykin's work has appeared in magazines from virtually every major comics publisher, including Marvel, DC, Atlas seaboard, Warren and Star*Reach. In 1977 Chaykin collaborated with writer Roy Thomas to adapt the famous Star Wars movie before moving on to become one of the major innovators of the American graphic novel. Every page is illustrated with comics style color panels and textual dialogue balloons. American Flagg is a lasting contribution to the comics medium. Signed by Author(s).
