INSCRIBED AND SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR. Unpaged - 24 pages plus covers. Staple-bound paperback booklet: H 15.75cm x L 11.75cm. Green paper covers with some soiling, toning, and a few small stains; several tears/creases and chip at rear panel's top right corner. Some toning to leaves with light creasing at top margins. Author's six-line ink inscription "To | Gail Borden | with best wishes | for Christmas | and The New Year, | Fred B. Millett" on front cover's blank verso. Slight rust to staples but binding remains firm. Comprised of five Millett essays regarding the 1928-1929 Chicago theatrical season which, per a note on the title leaf verso, evidently first appeared in the University of Chicago Magazine. English professor Fred Millett earned a bachelors degree from Amherst with his graduate studies at the University of Chicago. Millett taught at Queenâ s College in Ontario, Canada; at the Carnegie Institute of Technology in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (1919-1927); at The University of Chicago (1927-1937); and at Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut (1937-1958). OCLC locates copies of PEEP-SHOWS at only three member institutions (University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign; University of Chicago; Amherst College) although Wesleyan University owns a non-OCLC listed copy too. Wesleyan also possesses Millett's papers and cites PEEP-SHOWS as the very first of the professor's extensive pamphleteering oeuvre - some 51 titles issued between 1929 and 1973.
