Amateur half leather binding with marbled boards. Gilt lettering to spine reads "History of Surrey". 7ins x 4.5ins, marbled endpapers, [iv], 214pp plus additional illustrated title page, folding map of county and 45 plates. Lacks plan of Guildford. The majority of the plates were drawn by H. Gastineau but there were also contributions from W.K. Morland, J. Grieg, W. Deeble and T.Higham. Light foxing to the map, but the plates are nice and clean. Overall VG, 1822

Hardcover. Condition: Good. Oblong folio with 50 lithographs by Godefroy Englemann all Biblical designs after Raphael. Undated circa 1830's. Occasional foxing primarily at page margins. Also margin stains, tears & nicks. Light soiling of a some prints. Engelmann's was of France - German origin & born in Mulhouse France on 17th August 1788. Where he died on 24th of April 1839. He is largely credited with bringing lithography to France and late on commercializing chromolithography. Green mo covers with gilt decoration are scuffed stained & marked. Spine is nicked scuffed at top edges. Some tissue guards present & others not. Rare production with Bookplate of Carton Library pasted to front pastedown.
