Paperback. Condition: new. Paperback. Exploring over 25 works by Alison Wilding one of Britain's most noted sculptors this publication draws on the artist's ambitious display at the Duveen Galleries, Tate Britain. Wilding is known for her inventive approach to both form and materials. Each of the five major works on display at the Tate brings together contrasting materials from copper and alabaster to rubber and PVC while testing the relationship between scale and weight. The exhibition also served to celebrate the Tate's acquisition of her 2004 work 'Vanish & Detail'. This volume contextualises those works within Wilding's oeuvre. Alongside 70 illustrations and an interview between the artist and curator Carmen Julia, a survey text by Anna Moszynska groups the works in relation to the sculptures made by Wilding throughout the nearly four decades of her career. AUTHORS: Penelope Curtis is an art historian and author with a particular interest in modern and contemporary visual art. Curtis has served as Director of the Museu Calouste Gulbenkian, Lisbon; Director of Tate Britain; and Curator of the Henry Moore Institute, Leeds. Anna Moszynska is an independent art critic and curator. She is a Consultant Lecturer at Sotheby's Institute of Art, where she oversaw the development of the Master's in Contemporary Art. Carmen Julia is Curator at Spike Island, Bristol (UK). She was previously a Curator of Contemporary Art at Tate. SELLING POINTS: . Wilding rose to prominence in the 1980s as part of the New British Sculpture group. Her first international solo exhibition was at MoMA (NY) in 1987 . Texts include an interview with the artist, alongside essays by curators, giving an overview of the innovative sculptor's career of nearly 40 years 70 colour illustrations Exploring over 25 works by sculptor Alison Wilding, this publication draws on the artists ambitious display of five major sculptures at Tate Britain in 201314, contextualising these within her wider oeuvre.
