Book
Soft cover. Condition: Very Good ++. B/W Photographs (illustrator). First Edition. SUBTITLED : ` A Pictorial History of Brandon '. 119 pages of reminiscences - including author's bio sketch. The author of this work was associated with the Brandon Sun newspaper. These are photo memories - so you will see the Reno Hotel, the gun club, Lake Clement, runner Philip Tait, Billy Muir, the Dominion Fair, streetcars, Katherin Stinson, and Eaton's Foodateria circa 1930 - with horse-drawn delivery vehicles. There is a Bronfman (yes, that Bronfman !) connection - page 93. My favourite photograph is of the sign for Christie Biscuits on the side of the Ione Cigar Factory - page 59. Map ahead of page one. Cond : Paper wrapper is yellow and green with green lettering. Volume is clean and bright with very light general wear. No tears , no creases. Sound in binding. Excellent reference. Quote (p. 05) : " Brandon's success as a `jumping-off point' for settling families resulted in the community developing a continent-wide reputation for the quality and the number of its horse sales. While no pioneer would knock the motive power potential of a ._._._. ." Size: 8vo.
