Similarly illustrated, with the addition of black-and-white photographs, this book continues the survey of the Australian story by describing the period from the gold rush days through to world War I. Volume 3 296 pages, again similarly illustrated, but now with the addition of colour photography, and some graphs and statistics, covering the period from World War I through to 1987, which is when the book was reissued in anticipation of the Bicentennial. Attribution of the publication year comes from the 2nd volume dustjacket fold over flap which states that the book is being reissued in 1987.
