The high point of Willstatter's chemical work was attained during 1905-1914, in his studies on chlorophyll and the anthocyanins. This is one in a series of publications in which Willstatter and Stoll sought to explain photosynthesis. Willstatter, noted for his work in organic chemistry, especially on alkaloids, chlorophyll, anthocyanins, and enzymes.
