On the blank page preceding the title page spread, the Caldecott Medal-winning illustrator has made a nearly full-page watercolor drawing of a horse and inscribed it: "Pour Gabriel et Berri / Chanwell [?] / N. Y. C. 29 Avril 1950 / Nicolas Mordvinoff." A story of Tahiti. The author and artist met each other on Tahiti and Stone asked Mordvinoff to collaborate on a book. Signed by Author(s).
