Book
Hardcover. Condition: As New. This 'As New' hardback in its original slip case was published by The Folio Society in 1997 in its third printing. William Russell is an important figure and he is recognised as the greatest war correspondent of all time. He almost single handedly invented the art. The wars he reported on as an important and experienced war correspondent and which are covered in this book include The Crimean War, The Indian Mutiny, The American Civil War, the Franco - Prussian war and so on. As usual with this publisher there is no dust-jacket. The book was printed at The Bath Press on Ibis Wove paper and bound by them in full buckram, printed and blocked with a design by David Eccles. There are no condition issues to record for the book while the slip case has a snub on one corner. Note that the book is relatively large and heavy and that the font has been chosen to reflect the dense text layout and small font of Victorian newspapers. I find the text very clear and this is helped by the use of high quality printing and paper. The book has 426 numbered pages. There are 45 illustrations mainly using prints of contemporary early photographs. The size of the book in inches is 10.2 x 7.2 and it weighs 1.34 kg. As with all our sales of books within the UK, we only ever charge a flat standard delivery cost of £3.35. Overseas buyers will be asked to agree to pay extra additional delivery costs as the book weighs over 1 kg.
Hardcover. Condition: Fair. No Jacket. Readable copy. Pages may have considerable notes/highlighting. ~ ThriftBooks: Read More, Spend Less 1.01.

Book First Edition
1st ed. Hardback quarto, no jacket as issued, pictorial cover, very good condition, figures, tables, top edge little foxed (minimal front free flyleaf), minor edgewear, owner's written name. 187 pp. J. B. Wright and three colleagues provide the first comprehensive report on the geology and mineral resources of West Africa. This includes the Precambrian metamorphic basement, the stratigraphic complexities of the sedimentary basins, and the widespread Cenozoic magmatic rocks. The considerable mineral wealth of the region is related to the specific geological setting. This book should have wider than just local interest: the large-scale features of the region are common to the whole African continent. The lead author has long worked in Kenya (Geological Survey) and at a university in Nigeria. (Written name of Eric Middlemost, former academic geologist, University of Sydney.).
