Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Undated but circa 1900. 154pp, monochrome frontispiece. A deluxe edition bound in full cushioned waxed emerald cloth with gilt lettering, all edges gilt, inner gilt dentelles around golden decorated green endpapers, title page printed in red and black. Attractive head and tail pieces. 12mo. Cloth is a little worn at edges, rubbed through at corners and at ends of a sunned spine, a couple of scuffs on front panel. Hinges cracked, not affecting binding. A little browning on versos of free endpapers, else internally neat, clean, bright and tight. A lovely vintage copy, would make super gift for an admirer of Whittier's poetry.

With Critical Biography by William Michael Rossetti. xix, 452 [8, ads] pp. 8vo, publisher's red cloth stamped in gold and black, a.e.g., in custom quarter morocco slipcase. Complete Illustrated Edition. Front hinge cracked but sound; spine a little darkened with light use to cloth. Inscribed by Bret Harte for "Madame Van de Velde" in December, 1884. Later the property of James Mansfield Cleary (executive with the Chicago Tribune), with his bookplate. Tipped in is a 4-page letter from editor W. M. Rossetti to fellow critic T.
