The opening salvo of this 207 page `excursion-to-nature' story goes as follows : ` Lucy and I bought the old gray house for fifteen dollars. You might say it was a `fixer-upper'. Trick was, they had to move it. Read more about : Moonstone Valley, amateur poultrymen, drift pins, bird-sing, bee-yard, Medonte, Martha Woodside and Farmer Tom. Chicks were their first stab at farming. Someone furry appears and gets called Doctor. The woodcuts are exquiasite. Cover is light green with dark green letering. Spine fine . Binding tight. No names nor marks though the top corner of the first page has been cut off. Clean and bright. Excellent reading copy. Becoming scarce ! ! Quote (p. 116) : " I doctored the eggs as directed, and laid them out in a row on the kitchen table. They looked very nice. I closed my eyes and saw skunks, dead skunks, laid in a long line across country, from the Owl Pen to the very door of the Ministry of Agriculture. Just before twilight, I took the poisoned eggs into ._._._. . " Size: 8vo.

The story of two questionably sane nautical rookies who decided to sail from Georgian Bay to the Gulf of Mexico in an 18-foot outboard. The author recounts their adventures along the way. The book is illustrated by Lucille Oille, the author's wife. This copy has been signed by Wells at the top of the title page. A very good copy with a little fading of the light blue colour at the very edges of the boards. The jacket has a small section of chipping on the rear panel, near the spine, and moderate edge wear, more apparent at the base of the spine than elsewhere. The jacket is now protected with a Brodart cover. Signed copies of this author's work are uncommon. Signed by Author(s).
