Book First Edition
Trade Paperback. Condition: Very Good Minus. B/W Photos, Map, and Drawings (illustrator). First Edition. Original yellow photo card covers. Minor staining to front cover. The first volume in a popular series of books about the Saint John Police Force. It covers the transition of the force from an informal organization to a militaristic organization under the autocratic leadership of Chief W. Walter Clark (spoiler alert - he didn't last!). Lots of strange crimes and bizarre criminals here, including a plot by a former asylum inmate to murder Saint John ministers with gifts of poisoned chocolates! Gerald Wallace was the Saint John Police Chief from 1965-1969, and William Higgins was also a police officer. The third author, Peter McGahan is a professor at University of New Brunswick. Notes and Index. Scarce. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Book.
