Condition: Fair. 1949. First Published. 88 pages. No dust jacket. Red cloth with lettering. Contains black and white photographs. Edited by Maurice Burton. Pages are clean, with moderate tanning to text block edges. Light cracking to gutter at page 40 and to front hinge, with exposed netting. Binding remains firm. Moderate rub-marking and tanning to pastedowns and endpapers with inscriptions to front. Boards have mild shelf wear with light rubbing and corner bumping. Some light marking and sunning. Boards are slightly bowed. Minor water drops to front board.

Spine lightly sun-faded, ends heavily rubbed with cloth wearing through. Corners heavily rubbed and rounded with cloth wearing through. Text block edges heavily tanned. Endpapers heavily tanned, previous owner's name on front free endpaper. Front hinge stretched at top. Internally very neat and clean. The life story of a polar bear cub brought up during the German occupation in the flat of Jan Vlasak, veterinary surgeon and Superintendent of the Prague Zoo. Foreword by Maurice Burton.
