Including three by Thomas John Dibdin (1771-1841), a prolific writer of popular dramas performed in London from 1795 to 1816. [Paul Jones, Don Giovanni and Ivanhoe or The Jew?s Daughter] plus Luke the Labourer by J B Buckstone, Crazy Jane and Yes! by C A Somerset, The Flying Dutchman and Thr floating Beacon by Edward Fitz-Ball, Forest Oracle by M Campbell. Mrs Wiggins by John Till Allingham, The Wife by Joseph Graves, Douglas Travestie by William Leman Rede. All include costume descriptions and full stage directions. A useful insight into popular dram of the period. Bound in brown mesh embossed bookcloth, with two black leather gilt engraved title panels to spine. 5¾? x 3½? text block. Generally this small book is in good order. There is a little bumping to the extremities, a 2cm split at top front of spine. First flyleaf is loose but attached, otherwise binding is all sound. Includes contemporary engraving at start of each play. Gift inscription on front end paper. This edition is very rare. An importnt addiiton to a theatrical libary.
