Orange paper over tan cloth with a paper title onlay to front cover and black letters on the spine. Previous owner's name (S.L. Lenchen. Okt. 1926 Otto Krebs), very minor wear to extremities, spine very lightly spotted, pages just a hint of waviness, slight musty odor, else very good to near fine with no internal markings. No dust jacket. A Prussian Lithuanian by birth, Bruno Julius Florian Taut [1880-1938] was a renowned German architect and urban planner. He worked for Bruno Möhring in Berlin (1903), where he acquainted himself with Jugendstil and new building methods combining steel with masonry. In 1909 he established the architecture firm Taut & Hoffmann with Franz Hoffmann. He was a committed follower of the Garden City movement. His sketches for the publication "Alpine Architecture" (1917) show him to be a Utopian visionary and he is sometimes classified as a Modernist and/ or Expressionist.

Le papier des pages de garde est du Torinoko qui vient de la province de Fukui au Nord du Japon. Le papier utilisé pour le texte est du Shigarami-gami, produit pendant l'hiver en très petite quantité. La Kokusai Bunka Shinkokai (Société pour le développement des relations culturelles internationales), avait pour but de familiariser les étudiants étrangers en séjour au Japon avec la culture japonaise et organisa un cycle de conférences du 15 octobre au 6 décembre 1935. Bruno Taut arrivé au Japon en 1933 y délivra cette conférence le 30 octobre 1935.Première édition anglaise et premier tirage, traduction de Mr. Glenn F. Baker et Mr. H.E.
