Biogas can be used in I.C engine, because of its better mixing ability with air and clean burning nature. The present study was conducted on rice bran oil methyl ester as a pilot fuel and biogas as a dual fuel used in C.I engine. The blends B20, B40, and B60 of rice bran methyl ester used as an injected fueland biogas were inducted through the intake manifold. The different flow rates of biogas in which diesel used as pilot fuel were also compared with diesel. The results show that the performance characteristics of dual fuel mode for all blends of biodiesel is higher than diesel at higher loads on fixed and dual fuel mode different flow rates of biogas. The results also show that the emissions such as carbon monoxide (CO) and carbon dioxide (CO2) of dual fuel mode B40 are less than that of engine fuelled with other blends. Dual fuel mode the flow rate of 3.1kg/hr. gives better emissions than 4.48kg/hr,3.72kg/hr. Oxygen (O2) emissions are more than that of diesel fuel in both cases dual fuel mode using a biodiesel blends having a fixed flow rate of biogas. 84 pp. Englisch.

Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -As world is confronted with twin crisis of fossil fuel depletion and environmental degradation, greater use of fossil fuels, high import cost of diesel & petrol, growing pollution has make biodiesel an attractive alternative fuel to meet the future energy demand. Biodiesel is an alternative, clean, environmental friendly and biodegradable fuel. Sustainability, regional development, reduction in pollution, security of supply can be achieved with the use of alternative fuels in the daily life. As nation is facing a shortage of edible oil, it would not be feasible to produce biodiesel by edible oils. Castor oil is non-edible oil thus it opened a good opportunity to study its suitability to produce castor biodiesel. The major issue with castor oil was its viscosity which creates poor fuel atomization, carbon deposits formation problems in the conventional diesel engine. A well known base transesterification method was used for castor biodiesel production using methanol and NaOH. The fuel properties of castor biodiesel blend B100 were studied and compared with petrodiesel. Blending of biodiesel with diesel in different proportions such as B20, B40, B50 were tested in diesel engine. 68 pp. Englisch.

Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -Biodiesel comes in use due to fossil oil crisis and environmental issues. Biodiesel is a renewable replacement of petroleum fuel due to economic and environmental benefits. In this study, Rice Bran a waste product of the rice milling industry is used for biodiesel production. India has abundant availability of rice bran oil. This study has conducted to evaluate the properties of rice bran biodiesel and effect of rice bran bio-diesel and diesel blend on the performance and emission characteristics of C.I. engine. The biodiesel blends are B20, B40, and B60 on a volume basis performed at different load conditions and compared with diesel. The result shows that biodiesel blend B40 shows better performance parameters than B20, B60. At full load B40 has 24.4% brake thermal efficiency (BTE) which is more than diesel. So Rice Bran biodiesel B40 blend can be used in engine without modification. The results also showed that Carbon monoxide (CO) and carbon dioxide (CO2) emission reduces up to 40% in case of biodiesel than that of diesel. Unburned hydrocarbons (HC) reduce up to 50% in case of biodiesel blends. So rice bran oil biodiesel is renewable and eco-friendly fuel. 80 pp. Englisch.

Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -Worldwide energy demands are increasing day-by-day. Major part of it is contributed by fossil fuels. Petroleum diesel being cheaper in cost has attracted the minds of people to use it as fuel in diesel engine which has increased the number of diesel fuelled vehicles. For a petroleum importing country like India it is a major concern. Due to this rapidly increasing demand of petroleum diesel biodiesel as an alternative fuel comes into consideration. Selection of inexpensive and available feedstock for biodiesel production within the country is the major concern. Rice Bran Oil is relatively an inexpensive and available raw material for biodiesel production as India is the second largest producer of rice in the world. Rice Bran Oil and Di ethyl Ether blends can be use as supplementary fuel in compression ignition engine. The engine operates in a similar manner with the Rice Bran Oil and Di ethyl Ether blend as with the diesel fuel, as reviewed in the engine stability data. 68 pp. Englisch.

The transesterification results showed that with the variation of catalyst, methanol, variation of biodiesel production was realized. A maximum of 76% biodiesel was produced with 20% methanol in presence of 1.0% KOH. The engine experimental results showed that among three different blends of biodiesel (B10, B15 and B20), B10 blend of biodiesel has the highest performance characteristic value of brake power, brake thermal efficiency lowest value of brake specific fuel consumption and exhaust gas temperature. The experimental result also showed that the exhaust emissions including carbon monoxide (CO), hydrocarbons (HC) and smoke emissions were reduced for all biodiesel mixtures and hydrocarbon (HC) and NOx emissions of B10 blend is lowest among all the three blends of biodiesel there is a slight increase in the carbon monoxide (CO) emission for the B10 blend as compared to B15 and B10. However, a slight increase in oxides of nitrogen (NOx) emission was experienced for biodiesel mixtures. 68 pp. Englisch.

Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -In this study, hydrogen gas (HHO) was produced by the electrolysis with stainless steel electrode designs in a leak proof stainless steel reactor (hydrogen generator). Hydrogen gas was used as a supplementary fuel in a single cylinder, four strokes, compression ignition (CI) engine without any modification and without need for storage tanks. Its effects on exhaust emissions and engine performance characteristics were investigated. Experiments showed that constant HHO flow rate at the range of 3 lpm , 5 lpm, 10 lpm (under the four different loads 25 % , 50 % ,75 % , 100 % for this experimental study), turned advantages of HHO system to improve the engine torque and specific fuel consumption (SFC). Emission characteristics also improve by the use of HHO Gas and goes to the negative direction with the favor of environment. This caused excessive volume occupation of hydrogen gas in cylinders which prevented correct air to be taken into the combustion chambers and consequently, decreased volumetric efficiency was inevitable. Decreased volumetric efficiency influenced combustion efficiency which had negative effects on engine torque and exhaust emissions. 68 pp. Englisch.

Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -In recent years, two problems roused people¿s concern. One is energy crisis caused by the depleting of petroleum fuel. The other is environmental issues such as greenhouse effect, global warming, etc. Therefore, renewable sources utilization technology and bio-energy production technology developed fast for solving such two problems. From a waste management standpoint, producing biodiesel from used frying oil is environmentally beneficial, since it provides a cleaner way for disposing these products; meanwhile, it can yield valuable cuts in Carbon dioxide as well as significant tail-pipe pollution gains. Butanol is a potential alternative to ethanol and offers many benefits including a much higher heating value and lower latent heat of vaporization. It also has a higher cetane number than ethanol and improved miscibility in diesel fuel. This work includes production of biodiesel from waste cooking oil (using trans-esterification reaction at 6:1 molar ratio), its properties and engine testing and comparison to biodiesel and butanol blends and neat diesel.Experimental work was conducted to evaluate the effect of using n-butanol and biodiesel in conventional DI diesel engine. 80 pp. Englisch.

Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - The present study demonstrates that a diesel engine can be operated with blends of DMC in diesel fuel with minimal engine changes. In this study pure diesel fuel was used as a base fuel for DMC-diesel blends. The blends containing 5, 10, 15, and 20 per cent DMC fuel by volume is used on a test rig developed for the experimentation. All tests were steady state and were set at constant engine speed 1500 RPM. With the addition of oxygen in the fuel, it has been observed that small CO reductions occur over the engine operation and there is drastic reduction in smoke emission, other exhaust gases were also reduced up to some extent. Moreover there is also increase in the brake horse power and brake thermal efficiency of the engine by small percent. So it can be concluded that the addition of DMC by 15% in diesel not only helps to reduce the exhaust emission but also increases the performance of the diesel engine. The conclusions from the research completed thus far lead to recommendations for use of fuel as a blend in order to improve the engine operation.

Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - The analysis of heat sink is an important area of heat transfer study for the last decade. A heat sink is a single component or an assembly which is capable of transferring the heat generated within a solid material to a fluid medium, such as air. A heat sink is physically designed to increase the surface area in contact with the cooling fluid surrounding it, such as air, approach air velocity, choice of material, in design and surface treatment are some of design factors which influence the thermal resistance i.e. thermal performance of a heat sink. This thesis describes about plate fin aluminum heat sink which was heated from the bottom side. In this research work, the thermal model of the system with different fin geometry design has been selected and fluid flow; thermal flow characteristics of heat sink have been studied. In this research work, heat sinks are investigated and performances of heat sinks are compared experimentally as well as computationally. An experimental technique was developed for measuring thermal performance of heat sink and overall convective heat transfer coefficient for fin. Experiment was carried out for wide range of parameters for forced convection.

This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -In this work, experiments were carried out to determine the performance, combustion and emissions characteristics of dual fuel engine using small quantities of compressed natural gas (CNG) in a compression ignition engine primarily fuelled with a B20 blend of jatropha biodiesel. The engines, which utilizes both the gaseous fuel, and liquid pilot fuel is referred to dual fuel engine. The primary usage of dual fuel system is to minimize the consumption of diesel and reducing the pollutants formation. B20 blend of biodiesel was chosen as it is optimum based on the trade-off of smoke and NOx emissions. A single cylinder air cooled direct injection commercial diesel engine was chosen for present research work. The B20 blend was injected into the diesel engine as that of the conventional diesel engine. The CNG flow rate was varied on energy substitution basis (0~ 80%) and data were recorded at different loading points i.e. 20%, 40%, 60%, 80% and 100% of brake power. All the experiments were performed at constant speed of 1500 rev/min. Test results were compared with baseline diesel operation. 184 pp. Englisch.

Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -Biomass energy utilization has gained particular interest in recent years due to the progressive depletion of conventional fossil fuels that calls for an increased use of renewable energy sources. The substitution of conventional fossil fuels with biomass for energy production results both in a net reduction of greenhouse gases emissions and in the replacement of non-renewable energy sources. Today, the use of biomass-derived biogas is more promising fuel for rural electrical power generation and is addressing technique for controlling emissions levels. Biogas, a renewable fuel, is produced from anaerobic fermentation of organic material, consists of mainly 55-60 % of methane which can be burned to generate heat and electricity. Fuel properties and compatibility of biodiesel makes it to substitute diesel in diesel generator. This current research work presents biomass potential for producing electrical energy and investigates the changes in performance and emission characteristics of single cylinder four stroke diesel generators fueled with Rice Bran Methyl Ester oil (RBME)-butanol biodiesel and diesel fuel blends with variable flow rates of biogas. 180 pp. Englisch.
