Hardcover. Condition: New. In 1948, the UN codified human rights in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. In the Indian Constitution which came into force on January 26, 1950, the substance of this Declaration was codified as Fundamental Rights in the Constitution. Terrorism has a direct impact on human rights. The UN Security Council, in its Resolution No. 1566 (2004), referred to terrorism as "criminal acts, including against civilians, committed with the intent to provoke a state of terror in the general public or in a group of persons or particular persons, intimidate a population or compel Government or an international organization to do or to abstain from doing any act." Today, every nation is being called upon to resolve the conflicting demands of combating terrorism and of protecting human rights. The purpose of this book is to trace how the combating of terrorism can be harmonized with human and fundamental rights within reasonable restrictions that is permitted by the Constitution and upheld by the Supreme Court of India. The relationship between the two is not 'linear', but 'non-linear'. This endeavour is the purpose of the writing this book.

The author argues that today, as never before, Hinduism is under an invisible multi-dimensional siege; and that the manifestation of this siege can be seen by those alerted to it. The author suggests that the siege against Hinduism today is visible in four dimensions: 1.Religious, in the denigration of Hindu icons; 2.Psychological - e.g. in the foisting of a fraudulent version of our history; 3.Physical - e.g. the Islamic terrorist-driven ethnic cleansing of Hindus in Kashmir and Bangladesh, and the money-induced conversion of Hindus to Christianity; 4.Cultural - e.g. through globalization of tastes, dress and interpersonal morality that are determined in the Anglo-saxon white Christian world ("The West"). The author argues that Hindus must collectively acquire a new mindset, to meet the growing challenge from a highly multidimensional siege which is international in character - otherwise over the coming millennium, Hindus run the risk of perishing like the ancient Greeks, Egyptians or Babylonians. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Signed by Author.

Book
Hardcover. Condition: New. This book focuses on the evolution of content from my previous publications by the current publisher. The author was inspired to write this book by the remarkable occurrence in Tamil Nadu where Jagatguru Jayendra Sarvasti Swami, the divine Sri Shankaracharya of the Kanchipuram Mutt, was arrested for murder on November 4, 2004. The author, with interests spanning Economics, Statistics, Law, and Foreign Policy, found himself confronted with a new reality where Hindu spiritual leaders could be implicated in murder cases by a secular government, despite their Hindu background. The murder charge was bogus, and soon enough, the Supreme Court quashed the Chennai police charge-sheet, and set free the Jagatguru Shankaracharya of Kanchi Mutt. The appalling and scandalous endeavor to implicate a revered spiritual leader of a lineage spanning at least 2500 years, coupled with the apparent indifference and disrespect towards the social fabric of Hindu religion and culture, inspired me to write easily comprehensible books on Hindu religion and culture. ABOUT THE AUTHOR Dr. Subramanian Swamy earned his Ph.D. in Economics from Harvard University in 1965. He conducted his doctoral research under the guidance of Nobel laureate Simon Kuznets. Additionally, he collaborated with Nobel laureate Paul A. Samuelson from MIT on published research concerning the theory of index numbers in 1974 and 1984. Dr. Swamy taught Economics as Assistant (1964-65) and later as Associate Professor (1965-69) at Harvard. He continued to teach at Harvard till 2012 as a visiting professor in the summer terms. He has authored over 50 research papers on index number theory, economy of China, and also authored several books on Economics, on China, and contemporary Indian issues. Dr. Swamy's contribution during struggle against the State of Emergency and its dictatorship brought him into immense political limelight. He has been a Member of Parliament six times.Currently, he is a senior leader with the BJP.

Hardcover. Condition: As New. In this book, the authors have concentrated on an understanding of the nature of a Hindu Renaissance and the concept of Hindutva in the context of the building of the Grand Temple of Maryada Purushottam Bhagwan Ram at the place where their faith tells them that Lord Ram was born and stresses the authors' right to have access and pray at the exact same spot. Securing authors' and every citizen right to exercise such faith, belief and worship are enshrined in the Basic Structure of the Constitution of India and are so stated in its preamble. Here the authors the modern Hindu imperatives read with a Modern Hindu mindset and Sanskrit as national link language in de-falsifying Hindu history. The book also follows Dr. Swamy's Arguments to Build the Grand Ram Temple at Ayodhya and assequiturit lays down the quintessence of the 2018 Judgment for not referring Ismail Farooqui Case [(1994)VI SCC 360] to a larger bench, the 40 day's arguments before the Hon'ble Supreme Court followed by the Judgment on 9 November 2019. The faith and belief enshrined in the Preamble read with Article 25 and 26 of the Constitution of India, having a superseding nature and status when compared to an ordinary right of property must prevail. Additionally, the ideological framework of the Modern Right for achieving a National Renaissance in the mindset, is proposed to be articulated and propagated with the way forward for Virat Hindustan in this book.

Hardcover. Condition: New. The author argues that today, as never before, Hinduism is under an insidious multi-dimensional siege; and the manifestation of this can be seen by those alerted to it. The author suggests that the siege against Hinduism is visible in five dimensions: (1) The international denigration of Hindu icons; (2) Psychological warping of minds by a fraudulent British colonial version of our history; (3) The Islamic terrorist-driven religious cleansing of Hindus in Kashmir and at other places; (4) The money-induced conversion of Hindus to Christianity in various parts of the country; and (5) Cultural assimilation through globalization of tastes, dress and interpersonal morality determined by the mores in the Anglo-Saxon White Christian world (the West). The author argues that Hindus must collectively acquire a new mindset, to meet this growing challenge. If Hindus and other sympathetic Indians do not confront this culture threatening menace, India known as Hindustan runs the risk of perishing as did the ancient civilizations of the Greeks, Egyptians, Zoroastrian Persians, Babylonians and several others.
