Ese mismo ańo, un grupo de diez fotógrafos de Magnum Photos -Jim Goldberg, Bruce Gilden, Susan Meiselas, Martin Parr, Paolo Pellegrin, Alessandra Sanguinetti, Alec Soth, Larry Towell, Alex Webb, y Donovan Wylie (además de Chien-Chi Chang, que documentó el proceso en audio y vídeo) se establecieron temporalmente en Rochester, Nueva York. Su objetivo: crear un archivo documental de la cultura y el paisaje de la ciudad que había sido sede principal de la empresa, y a la vez, crear una experiencia en la que hacer participar a sus residentes. A lo largo de casi tres semanas, fotógrafos, estudiantes, profesores y residentes trabajaron juntos para crear un registro visual de la ciudad y su gente en un momento de transición significativa. Martin Parr dio a cada fotógrafo la tarea de seleccionar un centenar de fotografías para formar un archivo. Rochester 585/716 presenta unas mil imágenes, junto con comentarios de Cornelio Eady y Marie Howe, Laura Wexler y Nathan Lyons.
