Hardcover. Condition: Good. First Edition; First Printing. Navy blue cloth boards have beveled edges, with gilt-stamped title on the cover and spine, with gilt-stamped 22nd US Infantry seal on the front. Boards are shelfworn, rubbed and show some minor soil markings. The edges and corners are worn and the text block is dusty and shows signs of foxing. Interior pages are browned with age, toned around the edges and have scattered foxing. The frontispiece, a portrait of Colonel David S. Stanley - the unit's first regimental commander - and its protective covering, are heavily toned and foxed. This book was printed in a limited number for regiment members and their families. The 22nd US Infantry, organized in 1866, was involved in three Yellowstone Expeditions (1871-73) ; expeditions against the Sioux (1874-77) ; campaigns against the Ute, Apache and Navajo (1879-89) ; Sioux Uprisings (1890-91) ; the Spanish-American War; Philippine Insurrection; Malolos Expedition; San Francisco Earthquake (1906) ; strike duty in Nevada gold fields; service in Alaska; Mexican border service; World War I. ; Large 8vo 9" - 10" tall; 162 pp.
