Hard Cover. Condition: Good binding. Dust Jacket Condition: near Very Good dust jacket. Large octavo. [10], 116 pp., illus. First edition, first printing; signed by Singer and Zemach. As issued, in publisher's cloth with dust jacket. Cream colored cloth is fairly soiled and stained; previous owner name on the front free endpaper and the half title; small stain to the fore-edge of the last several leaves, visible in the margin of those leaves; dust jacket is generally shelfworn; retailer's (F. A. O. Schwartz) price tag over the publisher's price. While not the freshest copy, this presents fairly well in its dust jacket and uncommon with signatures and inscriptions by both author and illustrator. Additionally, beneath Zemach's inscription is a small drawing. Singer was a Nobel Laureate and this present title was one of four Newberry Honor Books in 1968.
