"Mr. Shaw's play-rehearsal-copies came first into the market in quantities (though very small ones), when he gave up his flat in Adelphi Terrace and sold those which had remained on his shelves together with other unwanted books to a bookseller."--Introduction. Dr. Loewenstein offers a bibliographical description of the known rehearsal copies in this booklet. Dr. Loewenstein, a Jewish refugee from Hitler's Germany, was instrumental in the inauguration of the Shaw Society. Loewenstein dedicated this publication to "Miss Blanche Patch", Shaw's long-time secretary.
