Pages have light tanning and foxing throughout. Heavier to first and last few pages. Stains and markings to some pages. Previous owner's inscription to front pastedown. Sticker to rear pastedown. Water stain to rear free endpaper and pastedown. Boards have moderate shelf-wear with bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Slight crushing to spine ends. Staining to front board. Wear marks overall. Gilt lettering is bright and clear.

[Thomas Edmonston was born in Shetland in 1825 and became Professor of Botany in the Andersonian University of Glasgow aged 19. He died tragically whilst Naturalist on board the H.M.S.
