Book First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: Very Good Plus. Dust Jacket Condition: Good Plus. 1st Edition. First Edition (St. Martin Press: NAP for Firsts published prior to the 1980's). A rather rare book. You can see the covers in the photographs provided. They are exceptionally clean and they don't appear to have any wear, unless you count a little crinkling at the spine ends. The book is also very solidly bound from beginning to end. In scrolling through the pages, I didn't see any soiling or creasing or dogeared corners. The pages are in excellent condition. There aren't any markings or attachments. And no one has written their name or anything else anywhere in this book. The dust jacket is rated Good Plus due to the tiny loss off the top edge of the front cover. You can see that in the first photograph. It's other flaws are a tiny tear just to the left of the loss, a small closed tear off the bottom edge of the spine, a tiny tear off the top edge of the rear flap, and a very thin, tiny loss off the bottom edge of the front flap. The jacket is quite clean. It is not price clipped, not clipped at all, and it will be fitted into a protective cover. From Kirkus Review: 'This is the story of how too great love can go wrong. This is a sensitive and penetrating study of the underlying currents in such a community, where people had too much wealth, too little stability, too thin a coating of morality. It is an unusual story, not dependent on the suggestive content of Peter de Vries and others but on a kind of compassionate understanding of deeper currents that strive to come to the surface. This is Sarah Litsey's third novel; it has some of her best writing and a greater integrity of goal and achievement.'.
