Paperback. Condition: Very Good. The Spitfire was the most celebrated fighter plane of the RAF and saw extensive service throughout World War II. Reliable, fast, rugged and effective this revolutionary aircraft made a terrific reputation for itself over the skies of Europe. The Spitfire V was the third major production type of the aircraft to see service, coming into action in March 1941, and was an updated, honed version of the classic fighter. This detailed, technical manual reveals the secrets behind the Spitfire's success. It examines the Spitfire's engine, armament, controls, design and technical specifications to give a clear picture of the plane's strengths and limitations. Technical drawings, electrical plans and cockpit photographs support the text. The Spitfire V Manual is a facsimile of the original Air Ministry workshop manual - used by the personnel who flew and maintained the aircraft - and was first published in the 1940s. A technical manual detailing the workings of this famous aircraft Complete with technical diagrams, cockpit photographs and plans Facsimile of authentic 1940s manual. The book has been read, but is in excellent condition. Pages are intact and not marred by notes or highlighting. The spine remains undamaged.

xv, 234 pp. Octavo. Original gold-coloured cloth boards. Black lettering on spine and title. Former Aerospace Museum library title. Stamps on the front paste down and title page. Otherwise, a tight, clean copy. Signed by Lieutenant Dunnett on the title page. Illustrated with 22 photographs and a map on the frontispiece. This was a restricted title when it was published, outlining the threat of communism that arose in Malaysia as it related to the Royal Air Force and the Ministry of Defense. The volume outlines the background of the emergency, reviewing the opposing forces and the organizational operations of the air forces in Malaysia. Chapters also detail diverse topics such as the planning and initiation of supply drops, the role of helicopters and the psychological warfare (propaganda) campaign. Photographic reconnaissance was also used, and the intelligence aspect of the air campaign is also reviewed. This seems to be a rare title, and it documents a fascinating chapter in history from the perspective of the Royal Air Force.
