The 'Sedition Committee' also known as the 'Rowlatt Comittee' was formed to assess political terrorism in India, during the time of the growing Indian revolutionary movement. This report lists various alleged crimes such as murder, dacoity and conspiracy. The Rowlatt Act gave the Viceroy's administration unprecedented authority to put an end to sedition by stifling the press, holding political activists without charge or trial and detaining anyone they suspected of treason or sedition. In 1919 events came to a head with the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. Possible ex-library stamp or plate to front paste down with white label over it, no other markings. Some marks to text else clean internally. Boards are worn, toned, rubbed and marked otherwise binding tight, good condition.
