2nd Edition. Hardbound 8vo (9.25 inches tall) 466 pages. Description: This copy is Signed by the author, with a personalized inscription. Includes several black and white photo illustrations. The cover blurb reads: ''Starting with the author's family's arrival in America in 1640, this takes us through the roaring Twenties, to the Great Depression ,where they lived in appalling poverty, to World War II, where Ted took part in the rescue of (future) President Kennedy. This book is living history of the long journey of a nobody who became a somebody the American way.'' The primary focus of the book is on the war experiences (about half the book is devoted to that period). In August 1943 Robinson was radar officer on the lead ship on a patrol. He spotted a destroyer and warned other boats, including PT-109, but the warning was not in time, and the boat was rammed and caught on fire. JFK was burned and injured but helped rescue his crew. He and a few others escaped to an island. Robinson was on the boat that rescued the 11 survivors. Originally published in 2008. BINDING/CONDITION: navy blue cloth with gilt spine text; a Near Fine book, with a Near Fine dust jacket. ISBN: B009AOWWMQ.
