Tinted lithograph, 15.1 x 22.6 cm (image), 24.8 x 32 cm (sheet) edges slightly scuffed and worn with one small tear to the top margin, and ligh browning not affecting the image, in very good condition. A view of the the Church of the Holy Sepulchre from an original drawing "on the spot" by David Roberts on Palm Sunday in 1839. Prepared for his monumental work "The Holy Land, Syria, Idumea, Arabia, Egypt and Nubia" . The first lithographs were published in 1842 in monthly parts by Moon, Boys and Graves, the final issues appearing in 1849. This is from the re-issue in smaller format by Cassell published in 1879.
