Personal letter to a niece laid in: full page ALS (hand written signed letter) from the author, on Robert and Belle Helmer letterhead. Indent to front and rear upper boards. Clean inside and out, binding solid and square. Dustjacket in Very Good condition, only fault is a few words written to rear panel ("Cooper Union? / Pratt Institute?"). The author, a well-known New York architect, proposes a novel approach to urban renewal: "utilizing the back yards of slum dwellings which stand on deep narrow lots, as sites for erecting new housing units, settling the families in them, then demolishing the old houses and landscaping the areas.". Signed.
