Mass Market Paperback. Condition: Near Fine. Ed Emshwiller, Ed Valigursky, Jack Gaughan (front covers) (illustrator). Later and/or First Printings. ----------This heavy set will require NO additional shipping charges for standard shipping for a US or Canadian order, overseas orders will require a shipping charge DRAMATICALLY LESS than actual postage (inquire). 38 paperbacks, all Ace Science Fiction Doubles, also referred to as tete-beche or dos-a-dos, describing books which when flipped over reveal another cover and book. Ace issued their science fiction doubles from 1953 to 1973 (there were "doubles" beyond 1973, but they bore a single cover which listed both books). The books were issued in 5 letter-prefix series based on original cover price, and 1 numerical series. Offered here is the SECOND letter-prefix series, the "F" series, consisting of 38 volumes issued from 1961 to 1964, and bearing an original cover price of $0.40. It is the COMPLETE set of Ace SF doubles F series, starting with F-104, to F-299. The F series consisted of both reprints and first editions, and several authors made their first book appearances here. Notable first book appearances are by Samuel R. Delany (The Jewels of Aptor, his first book, which is SIGNED by Delany, and 2 other first editions), and Marion Zimmer Bradley (her first book The Door Through Space, and several others, including entries in her Darkover series). Other writers made appearances, both as reprints and first editions, such as A.E. Van Vogt, Andre Norton, Robert Silverberg, John Brunner, Robert Moore Williams, Murray Leinster, Poul Anderson, Brian Aldiss, Keith Laumer, Jack Vance, Philip Jose Farmer, Leigh Brackett, Kenneth Bulmer, Fritz Leiber, L. Sprague de Camp, A. Bertram Chandler, Gordon R. Dickson. Condition of the books ranges from VG to unread fine, with most being at least near fine. Very attractive colourful books, covers by Ed Emshwiller, Ed Valigursky and Jack Gaughan (there may be other artists, but these three are the only ones credited). Inquiries on condition or requests for cover scans of individual volumes are welcomed.
