Organised in three sections it provides authoritative treatment of the concept of empowerment and its relationship with the profession of social work characteristics concerns and contributions of the civil society organizations and the commitment and response from the government and civil society organisations for empowerment of the weaker sections. Instead of just compiling descriptions of pious policies programmes and their montonous analysis of inefficient implementation the contributors to this volume have all been very forthright in calling a spade and giving some fresh ideas in which the empowerment of the weaker sections can be undertaken in time to come. This book is a must read for the teachers researchers and students from the disciplines of anthropology sociology social work and political science and policy and programme designers for the weaker sections. 358 pp.

It consists of a total of 21 very carefully selected papers. It is organized into five parts. Part one examines the relationship between the women's problematic and the Indian State. The second part deals with the diagnoses of the women's problematic and nature of commitment made by the Indian State and its translation into reality in terms of formulation of policies and programmes designing of structures and processes indicating the presence or absence of a good fit between intentions and their actualization by the Indian ruling class. Part three analyses the impact of initiatives undertaken by the government in different sectors. Part four focuses on the impact of efforts of the autonomous organizations and communities. Given the mixed performance of both the state and women initiated initiatives part five addresses the fu.

Book First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: New. 1st Edition. The book entitled Documentary of Agaricomycetous Mushrooms of India provides updated compilation of basic data and information on 1920 mushroom taxa belonging to 207 genera spread over 35 families and 3 orders of fleshy fungi published till date from India. The broad classification adopted for compilation of this treatise is largely based on the latest version of the Dictionary of Fungi authored by Kirk et al. (2008). In this documentary the Orders, Families, Genera and Species are arranged in alphabetic order under respective taxonomic category. For a particular taxon, the name of the class, order, family, respective authority and citation has been given as per authentic information available in the MycoBank and Index Fungorum. For every species and variety listed under respective genus, the exact information about the state of its occurrence and the documenting author has been provided. At the end of the documentary the references, which appeared in the main body of the manuscript are listed in an alphabetical order. This data base is likely to set the tone for more explorative work and will provide a significant base line. The gilled and poroid mushrooms embrace diverse and fascinating arrays of fleshy fungi. They are of great interest because of their relevance in nutritional and neutraceutical aspects, mycorrhizal association with plants, and as saprophytes and parasites. This book will be of interest to diverse group of users and we understand clearly that there may have been some inadvertent omissions in our compilation.
