Book
Hardcover. Condition: Fair. No Jacket. THIS BOOK IS IN GERMAN (but the art reproductions are universal). ~107 pages: 23 of text with b&w cuts of artwork, followed by 42 color plates laid out sideways ~18 cm wide with text about each painting facing verso. Der Text entstammt dem grossen Werke von Gustav Glück über Bruegels Gemälde im selben Verlage. ~8" x 10" (20 x 25.5 cm), beige cloth with red lettering, boards worn and soiled, missing backstrip repaired by an amateur using tan tape, edges age-toned, faint foxing and soil to end papers, some pages loose and a few detached. Though the exterior is beat-up, the plates are in good shape. Names of former owners Ann and Warner Berthoff written on ffep along with notation that the book was a gift from the writer Eugene Walter; the latter's gift inscription in French (more or less) on front pastedown, his handwritten "captions" (marginalia) on a couple of the plates, his "The National Willoughby Institute" imprint surreptitiously added on the half-title.
