Book
Soft cover. Condition: Fine. 11th printing of paperback, bilingual edition, bright, clean & tight copy, unread, in FINE condition. "Mr. MacIntyre has frequently come as close to achieving the impossible as any translator could hope to come. Verlaine's form is so integral a part of his communication that I do not see how the attempt, which Mr. MacIntyre makes, to reproduce his meter and rhyming could honestly have been avoided. All of these renderings have groups of lines which miraculously recreate their originals. Several almost sustain the miracle throughout entire poems. Finally, the preface and notes afford the soundest and most suggestive brief critique of Verlaine's work that I know of in English."---Saturday Review. Pristine paperback w/sharp corners & crisp edges, a square & tight binding w/no creases in lightly-faded spine, quite presentable.
