Condition: Fine. Tharwa, Cultural Facilities Corporation (The Nolan Gallery), May 1999. Large oblong quarto (257 × 362 mm), [12] pages (preliminaries and introductory text by Geoffrey Dutton), and [8] pages ('Establishing the Myth: the Nolan Gallery Kelly Paintings' by Paul Haynes, last page the colophon), plus, in between, 9 full-page colour plates (each one a Nolan painting, accompanied by a page of verse by McMaster, with the title of the painting on the verso), interspersed occasionally with plain deckle-edged sheets of colour paper (in the 'Primary Colours' of red, yellow and blue). The flyleaves are similar sheets in black, and there is a plain white sheet after the last illustration. Black Japanese silk with the title on a red onlay on the front cover, and the artist and author (indistinctly) on a blue onlay on the spine; minimal expert conservation to the rear inner hinge (a flawed design concept, to be sure); essentially a fine copy. The three-page introduction by Geoffrey Dutton is dated August 1998; he died the following month. This is number 17 of only 50 copies signed by Haynes and McMaster. The book was produced by the Edition and Artist Book Studio, Canberra School of Art, Australian National University.
