Bound in cream colored vellum with gilt spine decorations and leather insets on the spine with the title and Volume numbers in gilt. I have seen this binding described as 'vellum', 'faux vellum' and 'paper vellum'. This copy was once in the collection of The American Academy in Rome and has some minor markings: Library Blindstamp to title page; ink stamps to the title page; discreet pencil Library numbers to the top corner of the front endpaper; small Library catalog numbers and the word 'Stack' in black ink on the upper left corner of the front cover. A clean example, mild cover dustiness, but solid and well kept. Attractive!.
