Presentation copy signed by the translator/editor. One-page book review laid in loose. The back cover cites a review of the book by American West: "Jose Mariano Mozino, an able scientist, Mexican born and educated, busied himself with a thorough investigation of the [Nootka Sound] and its people. With the aid of his assistants, he was the first to make an in-depth study of the language, customs, religion, and system of government of this region, and learned more about the way of life of these people than had anyone else." A new Foreword was added to this edition by Richard Inglis, a curator of anthropology at the Royal British Columbia Museum in Victoria, B.C. Book is in Fine, almost new condition. [17-XWAX-2].

Included are her notes and Mozino's catalogue of flora and fauna, etc. Illustrated with reproductions of drawings & facsimile reproductions of manuscript pages. American Ethnological Society Monograph No. 50. Illustrated d.j. has edge wear with a few small chips missing @ edges.
