Soft cover. Condition: New. Fine unread condition glossy color illustrated softcover wraps. Includes Preliminary Page Quote by Saint Louis de Montfort; Translator's Preface; Preface to the French Edition; Introduction. Illustrated with black-and-white photographs. Translated from the original French by Frederick William Faber, D.D. Priest of the Oratory. "In this edition of Fr. Frederick William Faber's English translation of de Montfort's Treatise, meticulous care had been taken to preserve it in its original form. Thus, the English spelling and word syntax of the text, the Saint-author's extensive Latin quotations and the translator's faithful English counterparts, have all been most carefully maintained. For the sake of clarity the text had been divided up into chapters, while subtitles and layout techniques have been employed for the sake of presentation." - from the copyright page. "Saint Louis-Marie Grignion de Montfort was born in Brittany, France on January 31, 1673. He was ordained to the priesthood in 1700 and distinguished himself by his zeal and missionary work. He preached so forcefully and effectively against the errors of Jansenism that he was expelled from several dioceses in France. He took his case to Rome, where Pope Clement XI conferred on him the title of Missionary Apostolic, enabling him to continue his apostolate. An ardent devotee of Our Lady, he preached Mary everywhere. In his Treatise on True Devotion to Mary he fervently advocates the path taken by the God-man for our redemption as our path to holiness. "To Jesus through Mary" became his motto and total consecration as slaves of love to Mary became his means. His inspiring work, The Secret of the Rosary, cemented his legacy as one of its greatest apostles. Saint Louis also founded the Congregation of the Daughters of Divine Wisdom and a missionary order known as the Company of Mary. He died on April 28, 1716 at Saint-Laurent-sur-Sevre, France. He was forty-three. His last words were: "I am all Thine, and all I have is Thine, O most loving Jesus, through Mary, Thy holy Mother." He was Marian to the last. Pope Pius XII canonized the "Apostle of Mary" in 1917. The cause for his declaration as Doctor of the Church is now in progress." - from the rear outer cover.
