Fontis has an engraved portrait of the author as a boy, protected by tissue guard, opposite Title Page illustrated with Milton receiving a vision. Printed Title Page & all Text pages have wide margins and Red Linear borders with Crosses as corner decoration. Undated Edition, probably circa Mid 19th Century. Illustrated with Full Page Plates and illustrated Headers & Tailpieces. 460 Pages, 700g, 7 1/2" Tall. Some edge wear. Fine split to leather down right side of spine. Front hinge cracked. Good (Restoration - the book was bought in by us with the boards detached, it has been re backed by us with new fray not Irish Linen mull, new Oxford Hollow spine liner, calf leather spine with original laid on, new marble end papers - best match to marbled edges of book block- noticeably different. Brighton College Gilt Device to both boards with prize bookplate dated Xmas 1885 re-pasted to front free end paper to preserve integrity of the original book. There is surface damage to bottom front panel of tree calf. Mild foxing to prelims including guard. No annotations. No other notable defects).
