Quarto stapled card covers, 64pp, b&w and colour photos, colour illustrations, Covers a little worn and rubbed; a good copy. The story in pictures of the Brown Water Navy in the Vietnam War, a tag that was attached to the vast array of smal craft used by the USN on various task along the coast and up the various rivers and canals which criss-crossed the land. The booklet covers the the three major components of the Navy's riverine force and their subsidiary units. Tas Force 115 (Market Time) had the responsibility for coastal patrol, surveillance, and interception of enemy gun runners on the high seas. Market Time carried out the usually monotonous duty of interdicticting communist supplies along the coast of Vietnam, using equipment ranging from Patrol aircraft such as Neptunes and Orions to small swift boats which could include Coast Guard cutters. Task Force 116 (Game Warden) carried the war as far up the rivers and canals as their shallow draft boats would allow. They used varous modified landing craft, armoured patrol boats, helicopters and fixed wing Broncos. Task Force 117 (Mobile Riverine Force) was equipped with gunboats, armoured troop carriers, refuelers and a Brigade of the 9th Infantry to provide a self-contained strike force that could operate throughout the roadless Mekong Delta.
