Small ownership signature on a prelim page, a small mark on the fore-edge, o/w fine in wrappers, illustrated for this edition with a superb painting by maritime artist, Geoff Hunt. The author was a pioneer among amateur small-boat sailors, and this sailing classic was first published in 1869. This edition include a 10 page introduction by Arthur Ransome (from the 1949 edition) as well as an author preface, from the 1891 edition (McMullen died peacefully at sea the same year).
