Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -People everywhere have a need for shelter, for a certain place and a sense of belonging they can call home. Although home is a concept that differs widely from culture to culture, stable societies usually contain homes and places for their people to live. In societies which are disrupted by incidents of war and other events, however, these 'homes' which offer not only shelter but also a sense of place and a feeling of belonging, can easily become eradicated. My research for my Master's thesis arose from my experience in Zagreb, Croatia. In this project, I have explored the significance of home as a connection to a particular place or meaning through diverse cultural perspectives. I have also observed the implications of successfully recreating home in a new environment. I have interviewed Croatian, Italian and German people who have immigrated to, and made their homes in San Francisco's Bay Area, as well as two American women 'native' to the Bay Area. I dedicate this project to all of you whose heart has held a desire for home. 88 pp. Englisch.
