A couple of penciled notes on the front paste-down; penned non-author inscription on the ffep. Streak of staining on the pages' fore edge that bleeds into the fore edge margin of some pages. The contents (399 pp. + frontispiece + 5 additional color plates) otherwise appear clean, complete and securely bound. Burgundy cloth with stamped gilt lettering and a pasted color portrait of George Washington on the front cover. The spine gilt is a bit dulled. Other cover wear including surface rubbing of the cover illustration is modest. No ex-library markings. Extra charges may apply to an order requesting international and/or expedited shipping because of the size and weight of this book.

Covers have nice bright color, handsome pastedown illustration on front cover has little wear. Corners are chipped. Cloth missing from front outer hinge and in three areas on spine, two about 1/4 inch and the third about 1/2 by 1/4 inch. Spine slightly sun faded. Inner hinges tight and pages clean.
