Book
Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. Allan Eitzen (illustrator). Book Club Edition. Wow! Who knew that leaves could be so useful? An unusual topic for a children's picture book: a thorough look at how leaves can be used for anything from medicines, to cooking, to building, to fishing, and of course, for raincoats and whistles. Excellent illustrations and a delightful book all round. This Junior Literary Guild edition is exactly the same as the Lothrop edition - in fact it IS the Lothrop edition. The only difference is the dust jacket which has "A Guild Book" printed at base of spine instead of the publisher, and a line or two about it being a Guild selection at the bottom of the front flap (where the Guild has also clipped the original price). There's some minor browning to inside gutters of boards, but a very near fine copy in a very good dust jacket indeed. A nice copy of a scarce and unusual book. JS.
