Soft cover. Condition: Good Reading Copies. 1sts thus. A collection of four novels, some of which you may have heard of, others of which may be new to you, but all of which once had their day in the sun, and are looking for another brief moment in the light. Lewis, a Nobel Prize winner, offers "a novel of a middle-aged husband and his fiery young wife," (I don't know about you, but I'm thinkin': what could go wrong?); Lindsay gives us a story of "One girl, three men marooned on a desert isle," (I don't know about you, but I'm thinkin': what could go right?); the Lowry title tells us the story of a brilliant young surgeon "caught between fame and his conscience -- and the love of a beautiful woman," (I'm sure that you're thinkin' exactly what I'm thinkin': why do none of these stories ever feature a mediocre bricklayer caught between his mundane job and the indifference of Myra Hindley?); and finally, Mankowitz presents the heart-warming tale of a six-year-old boy who "acquires a snow-white kid with one little horn," which the little guy is convinced is a unicorn, and which, in the end brings joy and happiness to all (I know you're thinkin' the same thing I am: if we made supper out of that kid, wouldn't a little mint jelly accomplish the same thing?). All four books are intact and readable, but a couple of them will require careful reading if you want to give them another go-round later. To browse through other multi-packs, enter "AFB multi-pack" (without the quotes) in the title field, and click search. (Sorry, but no substitutions of titles.) Size: 16mo - over 5¾ - 6¾" tall. Book.

"Confronts one of the most complex issues of our times: how how photographic and technologically produced images mediate and define social reality. At issue are definitions of media, the role and responsibility of the individual in society, and the nature of the photographic image. Gary Garrels, Jim Lewis, Sandra S. Phillips, Christopher Phillips, Abigail Solomon-Godeau, Robert R. Riley, and John S. Weber examine these questions by analyzing the work of fifteen postwar artists working in a variety of media (Robert Frank, Andy Warhol, Gerhard Richter, Edward Ruscha, John Baldessari, Dan Graham, Martha Rosler, Larry Clark, Jeff Wall, James Coleman, Chantal Akerman, Nan Goldin, Stan Douglas, Cady Noland, Felix Gonzalez-Torres)."
